Science in Early Years: Little Lab Coats, Big Discoveries!
Who says science is just for grown-ups in lab coats? In the world of tiny hands and big imaginations, science is an exciting adventure filled with messy experiments, magical moments, and endless curiosity. Whether it’s squishing playdough, watching a balloon float, or making a volcano erupt; hello, baking soda!, 😉 science is all around us in early childhood.
It’s not just about learning facts, it’s about exploring, asking “what if?” and turning everyday moments into big discoveries. Ready to see how early years science sparks little minds and sets the stage for a lifelong love of learning? Let the fun begin!
Exploring Light and Colour in SrKg
In SrKg, our young scientists are lighting up their learning with exciting experiments that explore the fascinating connection between light and colour in the lab. They’re diving into concepts like reflection, refraction, and absorption, with hands-on activities that bring these ideas to life. Have you ever used a prism to see light split into a rainbow of seven colours? Or experimented with a CD to create a colourful light display? Students also mix primary colours to discover new hues and use a lens to flip a candle’s image upside down. These experiments not only teach them how light works but also spark their curiosity about the vibrant world around them.

Growing Wonders: Junior KG’s Plant Journey
Meanwhile, our Junior KG children embarked on an exciting journey of growing their own plants, bringing their learning to life in a hands-on way! With tiny hands and big curiosity, they planted seeds in small pots, eagerly watering them each day and placing them in sunlight. As the days passed, they observed the tiny shoots emerging and changing, making connections between what plants need to grow—light, water, and care🌱. Through this experience, they explored the key concept of Change, understanding how plants grow and transform over time. They realized that, just like us, plants are living things that need nurturing to thrive. Watching their plants change and grow brought them joy and a sense of responsibility, helping them appreciate the importance of nature in our lives. This unit not only deepened their knowledge of plant life cycles but also instilled a love for the environment and the magic of growth!

Oxygen and Flames: A Nursery Science Adventure
Building on this curiosity, our little Nursery scientists got up close and personal with oxygen – the ‘candle’ experiment. They watched in awe as the flame consumed up all the oxygen around it when we covered it with a glass, making the fire fizzle out. They discovered that oxygen is the secret ingredient for things like fire to burn. This experiment wasn’t just about watching a flame disappear; it also got them predicting, observing, and chatting about what happened. The best part? It sparked their curiosity and gave them a taste of the fun side of science, all while learning how oxygen keeps the world (and our flames) alive!🔥

The Excitement Continues: Get Ready for the Science Fair
Up next, our little scientists are all set for the school science fair! With all the fun experiments they’ve done, they’re excited to show off their discoveries, try new ideas, and keep that curiosity buzzing. It’s going to be a blast, and who knows what amazing things they’ll come up with next! Stay tuned for more science fun!
