This month for CAS students of DP 1 and 2, worked together to have a guest speaker reflect on their identity as non-binary people and speak about the LGBTQ community. An ongoing CAS initiative at Edubridge has been the Living Library, a project where students get people from various fields to discuss their life and work at our school. This project is important because it exposes students to a variety of people, speaking about complex issues. I think this helps us learn more about our community and teaches us to empathize with other people. An important part of school other than academic excellence, and perhaps even more crucial is this ability to empathize. To hear people’s stories, learn about how their life is similar or different to ours, to understand what problems they faced and how they overcame challenges. Listening to other people’s life stories is something that brings us all together.
