Mr. Amal Parikh

A firm believer in quality education, Mr. Amal Parikh ventured into this field to convert his passion into true form. His work in this field started as a trustee of the reputed public charitable trust, ‘Chankya Gyan Kendra’ in Mumbai with the aim of making education accessible to the masses; his second big step towards providing quality education to the society took the shape of Edubridge International School.

Commencing in the academic year 2013-2014, the Edubridge International School has been conceptualized with the aim of building a progressive society by creating balanced and confident citizens of the future. With years of travel and experience on his side, Mr. Parikh has started this new school in Mumbai with the aim of orchestrating the ideologies and work of some of the top schools in the country and beyond, and presenting them to the society in a totally new form.

The purpose behind choosing the International Baccalaureate (IB) board for the school was his belief in the curriculum which keeps students linked with the accomplishments of the country and, at the same time, exposes them to international standards of learning. The IB curriculum amalgamates the importance of education both inside and outside classrooms, which makes physical education an important factor within the children’s growing years. His faith in IB stems from his own experience of sending his children to IB schools and he firmly believes that every parent would want only the best form of education for their children. This has helped him focus on selecting the right curriculum for the students that his school will be catering to.

A financial wizard noted for his sound business acumen and people-management skills, Mr. Parikh has worked with some of the best finance and investment companies in the country. He is also the promoter and director of OHM Stock Broker Pvt Ltd. His involvement in charity is evident from his active participation in the Governing Board of Avanti Fellows. This organization works towards increasing the representation of economically disadvantaged students in India’s top colleges as well as in the country’s future leadership through three key interventions – career guidance and outreach, tutoring and one-on-one mentorship.

Mrs. Viral Parikh – Founder & Director

Mrs. Parikh, a mother of three children, has long been a proponent of the IB Programmes. Having gone through more traditional forms of schooling herself, she fully understands the value for holistic education offered by the IB Programmes at all levels as opposed to unquestioned rote-based learning within most schools in India. For this reason, she has enrolled her own children into IB Schools herself, to ensure that they learn to become responsible adults on their own and embrace newly emerging ideas rather than to maintain status quo.

Besides playing an active role on Edubridge International School’s School Board and being a President of the school’s Parent Body, Mrs. Parikh identifies herself with the IB’s Learner Profiles of ‘Caring’. She strongly believes that education ought to cater to the needs of each child rather than the other way around, so that students learn to set goals and high standards for themselves to accomplish, rather than to quantitatively compare themselves with their peers. Building on her beliefs and her own experience with the Primary Years Programme, Mrs. Parikh has been instrumental in drafting and shaping the School’s Special Education Needs and Academic Honesty policies. It has been Mr. Amal Parikh’s vision to build a world class school and Mrs. Parikh is trying her best to help him fulfill his dream by playing an active role through the School Board of Edubridge International School.

Above all, one thing that Mrs. Parikh can relate to is IBO’s goal of ensuring ‘lifelong learning’. Even now, she finds herself fascinated in learning something from her children as they return home and recount their experiences from school.
