At EIS, we believe that High-quality Learning is about meeting the individual needs of learners through ongoing formative assessment and responsive (contingent) teaching. Conceptual learning and self-directed inquiry are also integral to our academic programmes, as we strive to develop Aspirational Learners and Innovative Thinkers. We believe that well-being is central to learning. To nurture Happy Humans, all our teachers foster socio-emotional learning and use positive behavioural intervention strategies as part of their regular practice. Physical health needs are met through singing, dance, play-based learning, after-school sports activities, physical health education classes, special sessions on health topics during assemblies and homeroom, and by allowing students to be mobile in classrooms.
Student Well-being is nurtured further by our school counsellors, through classroom instruction and one-on-one counselling sessions (all students have at least two counselling sessions per academic year). Twice each month each programme has a “Kid Talk”, which is a brief session for teachers to inform the school counsellors about any student well-being concerns. We believe that it is every child’s right to explore their interests and discover their own pathways to Varied Success. Therefore, we promote student agency in the classroom and offer a broad range of learning opportunities beyond the classroom including camps, field trips, service learning opportunities, after-school activities, intra- and inter-school sports, student council and clubs. And, we develop Inspirational Leaders and Global Advocates, future-ready citizens who value their cultures, celebrate diverse traditions, respect the dignity of every kind of person, embrace our ‘common humanity’ and pursue a Better World for All.
